K. Imperial Fine Art is delighted to present Tutti Piccoli Santi (All the Little Saints), a selection of new works by JoAnn Ugolini. In her solo debut with the gallery, Ugolini harnesses chaos and commotion into an arrangement of harmonic abstraction. The exhibit is on view from June 16 th – August 8 th , 2026. The gallery and artist welcome the public to the opening reception on Saturday, June 20 th , from 3- 5pm.

Tutti Piccoli Santi (All the Little Saints) is a reference to both Ugolini’s technique and her creative intention:

“One of the first pieces in this series is a small painting that began as a drawing of the façade of a cathedral in Palermo. As I drew, the little saints on the cathedral wall took over the drawing. On a subsequent layer, small paint strokes took the piece into abstraction while enhancing the integrity of the saints and the turbulence of the piazza.” With the grounding presence of recognizable forms obscured by Ugolini’s repetitive, often pointillistic, mark-making, her canvases could easily stray into the realm of wild, untamed expanses. Instead, her carefully considered placement of color, tone, and contrast brings the works into melodic rapport. Her thoughtful, meditative configurations of paint and line are mediators of conflict, transporting the static white noise of a tempestuous color-field into efflorescent harmony. Her paintings offer that same internal joy and satisfaction found on the precipice of Resolution.

JoAnn Ugolini (b. 1945, Illinois) attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the 1970s and currently divides her time between Berkeley, CA, and Rome, Italy. Her Visual language is rooted in both locations, which she’s translated into an excavation of time and place. Recent exhibitions include the 2026 Great Lakes Drawing Biennial at Eastern Michigan University; a 2025 international group show, New Drawings, at the Kentler International Drawing Space in New York; and in 2024, a 20-year retrospective of paintings and collages at Eric Rose in Berkeley, CA.
