Since 1997, Traywick Contemporary has represented emerging and mid-career artists who have a decidedly West Coast influence, though many live and work outside the San Francisco Bay Area. The program has consistently brought together a range of diverse, and thoughtful artistic practices that focus on materials and process.
The gallery exhibition space is located on the ground floor of the former Berkeley Masonic Temple, built in 1924. While representing a dedicated group of contemporary artists, many of whom have shown with the gallery since its founding, Traywick Contemporary presents a model that encourages new possibilities in the way art is both exhibited and experienced. The program champions non-traditional media and materials, including site-specific installations and commissions that respond to and address the unique exhibition space, which often extends beyond the gallery walls.
We are open by appointment.
