MEYEROVICH GALLERY Presents: Guy Dill: Forms in Motion  in conjunction with Guy Dill: Nomad at Laguna Art Museum in Laguna, CA  March 15 – September 1, 2025.

Guy Dill: Nomad at Laguna Art Museum unveils a previously unseen body of work by the celebrated American sculptor. Known for his refined bronze sculptures, Dill departs from his traditional materials in this exhibition, creating layered compositions in plaster, wood, and concrete. These raw, expressive forms, born out of extended studio time during the pandemic, reveal a tactile, intimate side of the artist’s process. Accompanied by charcoal concept drawings, the works capture a physical connection between creator and creation, evoking motion, wrapping, and transformation. see press release here

In conjunction with this exhibition, Meyerovich Gallery is proud to present Guy Dill: Forms in Motion, a focused exhibition of unique and powerful sculptures by this acclaimed American sculptor. This San Francisco presentation highlights Dill’s signature approach to form and motion through refined, finished works in bronze and aluminum.

Featured works include “Tartus” (2016), “Ute” (2013), and “Nomad” (2019), sculptures that embody Dill’s mastery of material and his ability to evoke both tension and elegance through sweeping curves, poised balance, and bold architectural presence. These works capture the clarity and strength of Dill’s sculptural language at its most resolved.  Also on view in the exhibition is a selection of works on paper by Dill, which translate his sculptural vocabulary into two dimensions. These abstract artworks, marked by strong graphic forms and spatial tension, offer a complementary view into the artist’s exploration of movement, mass, and rhythm, across both media and format.

Born in California in 1946, Guy Dill graduated from the Chouinard Institute of Art, Los Angeles, CA with BFA Honors. He won the prestigious Theodoran Award at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York in 1972.  In 1974 he won first prize for sculpture at the American Exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago.

“Guy Dill is creating sculpture that truly enlivens and humanizes public spaces,” states the Director of the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dr. Steven A. Nash, in the catalogue of Guy Dill: A Decade, a retrospective of monumental bronze sculpture at the American University Katzen Museum in Washington D.C.

In addition to his many public indoor and outdoor installations in the United States, Dill’s works are also collected and exhibited extensively internationally. His works are included in the many permanent museum collections: Museum of Modern Art, New York; Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the Los Angeles County Museum of Modern Art; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam among many others.

The exhibition will be displayed also on the Meyerovich gallery’s website: www.meyerovich.com. For more information and visuals, please contact Alex Meyerovich at 415-518-1217 or art@meyerovich.com.
