Maybaum Gallery | 49 Geary Street, Suite 416
Nathaniel Kyung Smith approaches his practice as a process of personal discovery, with works that examine the psychological and spiritual relationship of the human body to both natural and built environments. His work is rooted in art historical traditions, reflected in his use of materials such as carved stone, ceramics, and oil paint. Informed by the performative and embodied languages of dance and theater, Smith’s figurative forms engage with key movements in modernist sculpture and painting, including Cubism, Surrealism, Neoclassicism, and Naturalism.
