Wynne Hayakawa | Days with Trees

Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce the 9^th exhibition with Wynne Hayakawa.

“I paint the light and shadow created in forests and hope to capture a feeling of intimacy.” – Wynne Hayakawa

Wynne Hayakawa’s new body of work focuses on the oak, laurel and redwood trees of coastal California. Hayakawa records moments spent in nature with her camera, capturing the movement of the trees with a slow shutter speed. The photographs are archivally printed on canvas for Hayakawa to add multiple layers of oil paint to the surface to create abstracted dimension. Her paintings are an evolving process – an interplay of color, light, and space. Hayakawa hopes her work invites viewers to take a step outside and spend some time amongst the trees.
