Creative Growth Art Center is the world’s first independent nonprofit arts organization dedicated to neuroexpansive artists with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The artists constitute one of the most vital avant-gardes working today.

Our gallery in Oakland is the oldest exhibition space dedicated to the art of people with disabilities. All artwork sales directly support the artists and organization. The Creative Growth Studio is home to over 140 artists who work in a variety of media. Facilitated by professional artists, the studio provides artistic support, high-quality materials, and space for painting, drawing, ceramics, woodwork, fiber arts, printmaking, and digital media. The studio is an open space, converted 12,000 square foot former auto repair shop.

Creative Growth artwork is collected internationally, with pieces in institutions such as MoMA, SFMOMA, Centre Pompidou, the Smithsonian, Cooper Hewitt, the Studio Museum of Harlem, Collection de L’Art Brut, Treger St. Silvestre Collection, ICA Miami, and the American Folk Art Museum.
